A basic model was created for interactive distance learning for disadvantaged youth through one-way video and two-way audio, using VSAT technology. A ‘broadcasting studio’ was set up for transmission of live and deferred programs. Ten LABS centers were chosen as ‘receiving centers’. Industry experts were invited to the studio to interact with the LABS aspirants. ‘Hard spots’ of the LABS curriculum were digitized to make classroom facilitation easier.
Schools fail to motivate children and young people to complete their education, producing a high drop-out rate. To tackle this problem, topics that were difficult to explain theoretically in the classroom were digitized. The students found the modules interesting and easier to learn from, and felt that the audio-visual process improved their knowledge retention. The facilitators said the modules made teaching easier, and enabled even below-average students to learn more. |
